Summer at Langwater Farm

Summer has definitely hit Langwater Farm! These days the farmstand looks like a fruit and vegetable riot, the parking lot is humming with cars, and the farm crew is hustling around keeping everything looking and tasting great! It truly is a great time at Langwater Farm.

Along with the warmer, busier days come the crops everyone associates with a Massachusetts summer: corn, tomatoes, eggplant, and squash. To make sure our supply meets our demand, the farm crew is out bright and early picking fresh vegetables everyday.

Some of our favorite vegetables to harvest are the red and yellow cherry tomatoes. They are so sweet; a perfect summer snack!

We also love cucumbers and zucchini! They are delightful to eat and even more fun to hunt for in the field.

Perhaps the best gift of summer are the melons! The whole crew loves to stop and enjoy a crisp, cool bite of watermelon on a hot afternoon.

The eggplants look like royalty sitting on their burlap throne in the farmstand. They truly are a great addition to many classic summertime dishes!

Our peppers are fantastic! Crunchy, sweet, and colorful.

Tomatoes. Tomatoes. Tomatoes!!! With weather patterns ripe for the spread of late blight, we have been babying our tomato plants and they have returned the favor! We have been getting TONS of heirloom, cherry, and red slicing tomatoes off the vine. When biting into one of our award winning tomatoes we know it truly is summertime here at Langwater Farm!

Summer is here but it definitely won’t stick around forever. Make sure you get down to Langwater Farm to enjoy the fruits and vegetables of summer!

  1. I’ve definetly enjoyed everthing about Langwater farm this summer. Fresh veggies, fruit especially fhe peaches and the blueberries. But what a great bonus having the fresh fish on Thur. And the baked goods as well. I really love reading all the reports about how things are going along week to week. Great descriptions, and photography. Love it all! Keep it coming!
